Canada and India have long-standing bilateral relations built upon shared traditions of democracy, pluralism, and strong interpersonal connections. Our mission is to promote this relation to new heights and to build a more friendly, respectful people to people relation between Canada and India.
The relationship between India and Canada is deep-rooted and diverse. On September 2021, Trudeau won a historic third term as Canada’s Prime Minister, The House of Commons that was last elected on 20th September 2021, has 17 Indian origin MPs. In fact, the leader of Canada’s New Democratic Party is Jagmeet Singh MP. Anita Anand MP, along with three other Indo-Canadian MPs, was a minister in the previous government and came into prominence for dealing efficiently with pandemic related issues. She has been retained, along with two others, in the current government as Minister of National Defence. Apart from this, the legendary Ujjal Dosanjh of the Liberal Party was the first Indian origin Premier of British Columbia. Harjjat Sajjan was the Defence Minister, and the list continues.
In fact, India-Canada, the two G20 economies share the intrinsic values of democracy, pluralism, and inclusivity. Today, although considerable development between the two Nations has taken place there is much more which needs to be achieved for a solid Indo-Canadian bonding.
The Diaspora apart from remitting money to their home nation plays a pivotal role in reshaping the relationship between nations and in developing nations.
